A Pergola Designed to Provide Privacy

At DBS, we thrive on the challenge when a customer comes to us with a design we have not built yet.  These homeowners have a home in Banning Lewis Ranch with a large backyard patio.  Our customers knew they wanted to build a pergola over part of the patio, but they also wanted to try and find a way to provide themselves with some privacy.  They had looked at stand-alone privacy panels, and there were a couple designs that they liked.  However, they were keen on building the pergola and panels of the same materials, and we were committed to making their vision a reality.

Through a collaborative process, we were able to incorporate a unique style of privacy panel into the pergola design.  The final product is a 12′ x 12′ x 8 1/2′ rough-sawn Cedar pergola, featuring panels built with Cedar boards on two sides.  The privacy screens were constructed with 3/4″ spacing up to a 6′ height and are a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality.  We finished it with a solid-body stain that is a custom-match to the trim on the house.

The homeowners are thrilled to have an outdoor living space that affords them the privacy they need.
