Gorgeous Outdoor Living Space in Monument with Gabled Deck Cover

The owners of a home in Monument reached out to us about removing their existing deck and creating the outdoor oasis they had always envisioned.  Together, we designed an 11′ x 24′ composite deck with an 11′ x 22′ gabled deck cover.  Although our clients hoped to reuse the existing stucco columns, we discovered upon internal examination that they were completely rotted and would not support the new deck and cover.

We explored the options for composite decking materials, and our clients chose Deckorators Vista Ironwood, which we installed at a 45-degree angle to the joists.  We also added a single-board picture frame border in Deckorators Vista Dunewood, which complements the Ironwood nicely.  The railing is a Fortress Fe26 Traditional powder-coated panel system with pressed dome post caps.

The existing staircase design did not align with their vision, so we created a new set of open deck stairs measuring 4′-wide with a 5′ x 9′ landing that turns 180-degrees.  Our clients are very pleased with the aesthetic appearance of the new stairs!

The gabled deck cover includes a vaulted tongue and groove ceiling finished in WoodTone’s Canadian Ice Lager, along with four can lights.  We also installed two Bromic Tungsten Smart Heat 4000W electric overhead patio heaters, allowing our clients to enjoy their new outdoor living space even on cooler days and nights.
