Wood Deck Framing

There are two types of pressure treated framing. Both have been chemically treated to resist rot, decay and termites.
Treater Series
  • Treater Series has a limited warranty against warping and is better than #2 grading.
KDAT (Kiln Dried After Treatment)
  • KDAT removes excess moisture and is less prone to shrinking, cupping or warping.
We suggest that all wood framing uses a joist protector tape designed to protect wooden structure from water damage.

4 - Dry pressure treated framing 

Using flashing and a joist protector tape on all wood framed decks will help prevent against water damage.

Brown rot occurs in wood framed decks, but can be prevented when using a water protector tape on the frame.

This shows the early, visible signs of dry rot.
