Deck Material Options

There are many different materials to use when building your deck. I classify the materials as good, better or best. Has you probably know that each classification as a different cost depending on the material. There are four main components of a deck, framing, railing and steps I will explain the different options available.

Framing:

Framing is the back bone of your deck.

Non Pressure Treated Wood:

No preservatives in the wood,  susceptible to decay. Non pressure treated wood is used in building gardens.

Pressure Treated Wood:

Preservatives to protect from termites, insects and fungal decay.

KDAT Pressure Treated Wood:

(Kiln dried after treated)
Same protection as pressured treated, however KDAT wood tends to reduce shrinking and warping.

Galvanized Steel:

Stronger, straighter, safer (No Preservatives), Class 1A Fire rating.
